Book II in The Heart Stone Trilogy

Raven in the Runes

Raven in the Runes is available in both paperback and e-book versions. I'll be writing much more about it in future newsletters. The Book II narrative skips forward a generation from Book I.

AD 1153 Scotland. Eilidh MacAoidh dreams of a life as a healer and midwife, like her Grandmother Marsaili before her. After years of side-stepping suitors for her hand in marriage, she has attracted two very dangerous stalkers, one seeking revenge against Eilidh and one who sees her as a tool to exact revenge on a different enemy.

But her family has other plans. Eilidh's father arranges a marriage between Eilidh and a Norseman she's just met named Torleik.  After the loss of his beloved wife Ulla, Torleik needs a mother for his young, rambunctious son. He's vowed to marry for convenience only, fearing he will betray Ulla's memory by taking another woman as his wife. But he hadn't anticipated meeting such a wild and vexing creature as Eilidh MacAoidh.

Eilidh sets sail with Torleik to his home in the Orkney Islands. It is there among the great Standing Stones that Eilidh discovers, like Marsaili before her, she too has magical powers.

Yet, just as they embark on their new life together, someone is trying to sabotage their plans. Why? Who wants to see the pair fail, and what is the motive?

Raven in the Runes is a tale of love and courage against the sinister workings of those who seek only fortune and power.
